Buying essential oils

Essential oils purchasing guidelines to know what you really buy

When people buy an essential oil in the UK, most of the time they have no clue of what they are really buying because the product label information is incomplete!

In Belgium, essential oils are controlled by the Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products, which depend on the Belgium Health Ministry. The essential oils I have selected have received such approval.

For medical and therapeutic use, the quality of essential oils must be irreproachable. This is why I have only chosen essential oils that are biochemically specified (Essential Oils Botanically & Biochemically Defined or E.O.B.B.D.) or chemotyped. They are moslty wild or organic. The E.O.B.B.D. certification logo guarantees the quality of our products.EOBBD LOGO

For therapeutic purposes, the Latin botanical name and the biochemical specificity of an essential oil are the keys to achieving the desired results.

Without the following information, you have no idea of what you are buying. Therefore, for maximum clarity and safety, we provide you with the complete information for each essential oil:
- The exact botanical species of the plant in Latin Name to avoid confusion*
- The producing organ (leaves, flowers, zests,…)
- The biochemical composition of the oil
- The country of origin
- The type of culture.

* The naming a plant using the everyday language is insufficient information for therapeutic use. For example, Eucalyptus comprises of several hundreds of species, only a few are aromatic and used in aromatherapy. The various essential oils of Eucalyptus all differ greatly in composition and therapeutic action. Buying an essential oil of Eucalyptus without all the full description mentioned above is therefore dangerous, hazardous and risky.

All essential oils are submitted to very tough controls. For each batch, we can provide on demand the:
- Complete gas-chromatography / mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis with FID (botanical identification, organoleptic analysis, density, indices of refraction, rotatory power)
- Conformity certificate
- Security sheet.

- Not Deterpened
- Not Rectified

- From wild or orgnaic plants.

This quality of essential oils prevents dangerous hazardous compounds and most allergic reactions.
